About

Who we are

Welcome to Seeds of Hope Madagascar, a Madagascan human rights organisation committed to advancing gender equality and championing the rights of sexual and gender minorities. The organisation reflects the strength and continuity of advocacy rooted in empowerment.

Amid Madagascar’s diverse cultural landscape, persistent inequalities continue to shape daily life. Seeds of Hope emerged in response to this reality, driven by a vision to build a society where every person is valued and treated with dignity, respect, and equality, regardless of gender or identity.

Our story

Our journey begins with education, the cornerstone of our approach. Through comprehensive human rights education programs, we endeavour to empower the younger generation with knowledge and understanding of their rights. We carefully craft our curriculum to instill the values of equality, dignity, and justice in children and youth. By nurturing a generation that is not only informed but also impassioned about defending human rights, we lay the foundation for a more just and equitable society.

Our work extends far beyond the classroom. At Seeds of Hope, we are tireless advocates for the rights of marginalised communities. We stand alongside those whose voices are often silenced, amplifying their stories and championing their cause. Whether it is advocating for LGBTQIA+ rights, challenging gender-based violence, or fighting for the rights of women and girls, we are steadfast in our commitment to justice and equality.

Despite our modest size, our impact is profound. From rural villages to bustling urban centres, Seeds of Hope is making a difference in communities across Madagascar. Through our dedicated members and strategic initiatives, we are effecting tangible change, creating a future where every individual can live free from discrimination and oppression.

Our mission

At Seeds of Hope Madagascar, our mission is clear: to educate, advocate, and empower. Through comprehensive human rights education, we equip children and youth with the knowledge and tools they need to become advocates for equality, dignity, and justice. Our work extends beyond education to advocacy, where we tirelessly champion the rights of marginalised communities, amplifying their voices in a society that often silences them. Additionally, we recognise the intrinsic link between human rights and peacebuilding, and we strive to bridge the gap between the two, forming a culture of peace and understanding in Madagascar.

Our approach

Seeds of Hope Madagascar promotes human rights through education, empowerment, and advocacy. Education is the foundation of our work—we train citizens, youth, journalists, and civil society organisations to understand, protect, and promote human rights and equality. By building knowledge and practical skills, we strengthen local leadership and community action against discrimination and exclusion.

Our advocacy focuses on influencing laws, policies, and social norms to ensure that every person enjoys equal rights and protection. We also create spaces for dialogue that foster mutual understanding and social cohesion. Through this approach, Seeds of Hope helps shape a society where fairness, dignity, and equality define everyday life.
